The Lasting Path to a Healthy Lifestyle: Why Don't We See Results Despite Our Efforts?

Updated: Aug 8, 2024

In our pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, we often encounter this perplexing question: "I've been trying so hard, why can't I see any significant results?"

From a scientific perspective, living healthily is like an endless training cycle. When we achieve one goal, new challenges emerge. For instance, when we can easily complete 15 minutes of aerobic exercise, our next goal might be to extend the duration or increase the intensity. This process is continuous, with no definitive endpoint. Sometimes, we may need to reassess whether our goals are realistic. If a goal seems too distant, it's beneficial to break it down into smaller, more achievable milestones.

The Essence of Effort and Philosophical Reflection

Effort shouldn't be measured in terms of "more" or "less", but rather as a persistent attitude. True effort is the unwavering pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, refusing to give up even in the face of setbacks.

The German philosopher Nietzsche once said, "Man would rather will nothingness than not will at all."

This quote reflects that everyone should have pursuits in life, with their own goals and ideals to strive for. In our journey towards a healthy lifestyle, even if we don't see immediate significant results, our efforts and dedication have already given meaning to our lives.

The Multifaceted Nature of Results and the Importance of the Process

The effects of a healthy lifestyle aren't just reflected in weight or body shape. They also include improvements in mental state, sleep quality, work efficiency, and more. We should learn to appreciate these subtle yet important changes. At the same time, we should enjoy the process of pursuing a healthy lifestyle. Every workout, every healthy meal is an investment in ourselves. This process itself is full of meaning and value.

Perseverance and Outlook

A healthy lifestyle is a marathon, not a sprint. Maintain patience and perseverance, believing that your efforts will eventually bear fruit. Even if you don't see significant changes immediately, trust that every healthy choice is paving the way for a better future. I really like this saying:

"Bitter are the roots of study, but how sweet their fruit."

Let's continue to advance on this path of pursuing a healthy lifestyle, enjoying every step of growth and transformation.
